Overview
This 18days Uganda Adventure Safari starts in Kigali and ends in Entebbe International Airport. Meet eye to eye with the amazing gorillas and Chimpanzees of Uganda in their natural habitat, one of Africa's major highlights. This close encounter with these amazing apes is simply breathtaking. Also get a close encounter with other diverse African wildlife, beautiful landscapes, and amazing culture and if you are a keen Birder, this is the place to be. Experience the wonder of the World’s reknown Murchison Falls as it squeezes through the narrow gorge commonly known as a Devils Cauldron!

Detailed Itinerary
Day1: Arrive at Entebbe Airport (Your guide Driver will hand the vehicle over to you) - Transfer to the Hotel, enjoy an afternoon City Drive – Visit Genocide memorial Centre and a Drive through Nyamirambo Oldest Township.
Meet and greet at Kigali International Airport by our representative who will warmly welcome you and facilitate seamless arrival formalities. He will Hand over to you our Safari Vehicle and Regional Map before transferring to your hotel, which is a few minutes from the airport. However, depending on which time of arrival, you are advised to have your money changed and enjoy the City tour.
Time allowing, You will Have a Visit to Genocide memorial center where we shall learn of the Political, social and economic History of the Hutus and Tutsi tribe prior to the Genocide, Have a guided marvel through the breath taking museum and proceed to shopping malls or sample more food, and craft markets for souvenir shopping.

Later enjoy optional leisure drive through Nyamirambo Township – this is the oldest town in Kigali which has a unique stretched neighborhood found in southwestern corner of Kigali that envelopes diverse behavior with dominancy of Arab – like Culture. It is a huge stretched corner which is sometimes referred to as a gangsters’ Paradise! Characterized with Many Muslim residents, Mosques and unlike other places that close by 8pm with everyone inside their homes, Nyamirambo hustles and rocks late into the nights!

Day2: Self Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park – Afternoon Boat Ride to the Punishment Island on Lake Mutanda

Have Breakfast and Proceed to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park which is the ancient rainforest and home of roughly half of the world's mountain gorillas, it lies in southwestern Uganda on the edge of the Rift Valley. Its mist-covered hillsides are blanketed by one of Uganda’s oldest and most biologically diverse rainforests, dating back over 25,000 years and contain almost 400 species of plants. More famously, this “impenetrable forest” is home to half of the remaining Mountain Gorillas in the world.

You will Have Lunch and later enjoy an afternoon return Boat Cruise on Lake Mutanda to the small island identified as a Punishment island where un married young girls who got pregnant were said to be bringing shame to their families hence they were taken by a canoe to the tiny island and left to die. You will see the Remains of those that were punished and left to die in a small open Cave on Akampene the Punishment Island. Transfer to the Lodge for Dinner and accommodation.

Day3: Gorilla Habituation in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After an early breakfast depart to the starting point for briefing about your gorilla Habituation adventure after which you will be led by experienced gorilla researchers on the slopes of the volcanoes. You will start from the site where the gorillas were encountered the day before and from here the gorilla Habituation begins. Although the hike can be physically demanding, the anticipation of the exciting experience ahead is amazing, and the beauty of the gorilla forest and its inhabitants are fascinating.

One of Africa’s major highlights is when you encounter these gentle apes. It is a humbling experience to stand just meters from man’s distant cousins as they eat rest, play and bond with their young ones. Follow the mountain gorillas as they range freely in the impenetrable forest, and discover their gorgeous natural habitual and the many species they share it with. You will move along the Gorillas for over four hours with the before finally sloping down back to your lodge. If your trek was relatively short, you may have a guided nature walk around the lodge and the surrounding communities in the evening. Return to the lodge where you will enjoy dinner with your fellow travelers before getting a good night’s rest for tomorrow's safari adventure.

Day4: Spend a Day Relaxing

Arise and spend a Day at the Lodge, you will enjoy all your meals at The Lodge and relax the whole Day overlooking the Beautiful ever green Forest or you may Try to Explore the Far South on equally thrilling optional activities such as;

a) Proceed for a Batwa pygmy trail Experience at an extra Fee of $80 per person – here we shall experience the culture of the ancient Batwa People who live in these forests, See the forest through the eyes of the first People who have lived here for over 500,000 years! Experience the lives of the Batwa People on the Interactive Batwa Trail in Mgahinga Gorilla Park and learn more about their hunting tricks, blacksmith, making of fire from sticks, herbal collections, weaving of Baskets, making bamboo cups, clothing beyond this generation among other interesting thrilling activities. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay. 

b) After breakfast, transfer to the Park Headquarters for briefing on Golden monkey tracking and allocation of the guides/ rangers. Proceed to the jungle to enjoy your Golden tracking. Although the hike can be physically demanding, the anticipation of the exciting experience ahead is amazing, and the beauty of the Golden Monkeys alongside other primates in the forest and its inhabitants are fascinating. Discover their gorgeous natural habitual and the many species they share it with its Cheeky playful mates.

Day5: Self Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park – Afternoon sun downer

After your early morning breakfast, pack-up your bags and drive through Ishasha plains for a visit with the tree climbing lions and other wildlife before heading to your Destination in Queen Elizabeth National Park. The drive takes you through the Switzerland of Africa area known as the Kigezi Highlands with its terraced hillside and winding roads arriving in the evening. Check into the lodge for dinner and your overnight stay.

Day6: Morning Game Drive and Afternoon Boat Safari on Kazinga Channel into Lake Edward

Queen Elizabeth National Park’s diverse eco-system of grassy plains, tropical forest, rivers, swamps, lakes and volcanic craters is home to an incredible abundance of wildlife. Have an early morning game drive where you have an opportunity to view the massive Rwenzori as backdrop, which provides excellent opportunities to spot lion, leopard, giant forest hog, Cape buffalo, elephant, defassa waterbuck, Uganda Kob, topi and bushbuck. The game drives and the boat trip (taken prior) are memorable methods of discovering a vast array of Ugandan wildlife. Be sure to have your camera ready for these amazing sightings!

You will enjoy a hot lunch and later in the afternoon take a unique 2-hour boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel into Lake Edward. This trip passes through possibly the highest concentration of hippos and this launch/cruise offers an excellent platform for photography, bird watching and game viewing. The prolific bird life is colorful and stupendous, with well over 550 resident species.  

Have an afternoon optional Nature Walk at an extra fee of $30 per person to the bat and hunters cave where we take a close look at the bats, rock python and forest cobras. The same walk will provide a chance of seeing birds, primates, tree species etc. Return to the lodge for dinner and your last overnight stay.

Day7: Early Morning Bush Breakfast and Relaxation – Afternoon Lion Tracking

Enjoy Bush Breakfast organized by Mweya Safari Lodge and later, relax as you look forward to a hot delicious lunch. Together with the research team, you will head to the wilderness for collared Lions which you will track on a GPS System. You will encounter other mammals and Birds as you track the lions returning to the lodge in the late afternoon for Dinner and Overnight stay.

Day8: Self Transfer to Kibale National Park – Afternoon Classic Crater hike

After breakfast at your lodge, drive to kibale National Park following the mystical Rwenzori Mountain Range through Tooro in fort portal. You will meet and Greet with a site Guide after your Lunch where you will drive to the starting point in kabata around Ndali Lodge which is about 25km from Fort portal town.

Here you will start your crater exploration excursion of beautiful Kasenda crater lakes region. 

This covers over nine crater lakes including the dried 80meter lava pipe, community experience and different viewpoints where you will be able to stand and view the beautiful surrounding. You will be able to encounter caves, beautiful waterfall and communities.

Time allowing; proceed to hike the caves along the crater valley leading to Amabeere Nga Nyina

Miru at an extra fee; the Amabeere Ga Nyina Mwiru Caves and the three surrounding Explosion Crater Lakes make it a most interesting day adventure! Hit up the trails characterized with a slippery jungle path leading to mysterious hidden Amabeere Caves and the three surrounding crater lakes.

Amabeere Ga Nyina Mwiru means “the breasts of Nyina Mwiru – these are traditionally Surrounded by different myths and folklore which has it that the caves acquired the name after King Bukuku of Toro chopped off the breasts of his daughter Nyina Mwiru and had them thrown inside these caves, following a prophecy that the daughter would one day get married and have a son, Ndahura, who would kill the king and take over his throne. According to local legend the prophecy came true. While another myth has it that the breasts were chopped off Following her refusal to marry the suiter that was chosen for her by her parents. Day9: Morning Chimpanzee Habituation

After breakfast at your lodge, transfer to the starting point of your Chimpanzee Habituation experience in Kibale Forest National Park which is reputed to have the greatest variety and highest concentration of primates in East Africa. The most famous of its 13 species is the Chimpanzee, man’s closest relative. Kibale’s 1450 Chimpanzee represent Uganda’s largest population of this endangered primate. Kibale is also a home to the rare I’Hoest’s monkey. Other primates include the black and white Colobus, Blue monkey, Grey cheeked mangabey, Red tailed monkey, Olive baboon to mention but a few.So you will enjoy a guided nature walk in the tropical rainforest in search of the wild chimpanzees, red-tailed monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys and many others. Although chimp sightings are not guaranteed, visitors stand a good chance of hearing and seeing our distant cousins as they gloom and bond with one another and chimpanzee habituation experience takes the whole entire day and you will be sure to come face to face with these closest cousins of man.

Day10: Self Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park

After your morning breakfast, Drive to Murchison Falls National Park. Drive North via Hoima to from Fort Portal through verdant countryside passing through traditional homesteads, farms and Tea Estates. You will arrive at your lodge in the late afternoon. Check in at your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day11: Morning Ballon Safari and Afternoon Boat Safari to the Bottom of the Falls – Hike to the top of the Falls

Arise early in the morning and proceed to the starting point of your balloon safari at the Paraa/pakuba. This early drive in the dark is a chance to see nocturnal animals that live in and around the park. You will meet your pilot and be given a safety briefing and instructions for boarding the balloon as well as landing procedures. The flight gives you great photo opportunities that are different from an ordinary safari on the ground. As you gently drift over the park, you can watch the sun rise as savannah below come to life with birds and animals. After landing, celebrate the flight with a glass of sparkling wine. After the toast, passengers sit down to a delectable bush breakfast prepared by paraa Safari Lodge. The bush breakfast makes for a memorable ending to your ballooning adventure in Queen Elizabeth NP.

After lunch, go for a boat cruise upstream the calm Victoria Nile to the base of the falls stopping just few of meters from the ‘Devil’s Cauldron’, marvel at the schools of hippos, crocodiles and over the 17km stretch you may see elephant, waterbuck and Uganda Kob. This is also the zone of many birds, species like goliath heron, Egyptian goose, pelican bee-eater, kingfisher, hornbill, cormorant and the rare shoebill stork. 

After taking shorts of the photogenic Murchison Falls, you may continue to the top of the falls at an extra fee of $15 per person where you will have the amazing view of the falls! See where the Nile -world's longest river explodes violently through a narrow cleft in the Rift Valley escarpment to plunge into a frothing pool 43m below. Later, return to your lodge and relax in the evening.

Day12: Relaxation at the Lodge

Today you will relax at The Lodge or you can talk to the lodge manager about activities you wish to engage in or you can enjoy numerous Game Drives the whole Day. Alternatively, you may choose to pay a supplement of $500 per group below 10 PAX to join a boat cruise to the bottom of the falls where you will mix with the high concentration of mammals as well you will get a chance of coming close to the endemic Albertine rift Shoe bill stork in the wilderness.

Day13: Leisure self -Transfer to the Rhino Sanctuary, enjoy Rhino Tracking

After your early morning breakfast drive northwest to Murchison Falls National Park, you will stopover at the Rhino Sanctuary for an optional opportunity to trek Rhinos. There are 15 Rhinos which were reintroduced after their extinction in the 1970s through poaching. A local ranger guide will lead you on foot to an up-close encounter with the rhinos and it may take about 1 and half hours. You will Have Lunch and an afternoon relaxation or enjoy a Canoe safari on the waters of Ziwa Swamp in Search for an endemic shoebill stork.

Day14: Self Transfer to Kampala (Munyonyo common wealth Resort Beach) for a 4:00 o’clock Boat Transfer to Pineapple Bay Island on Waters of Lake Victoria

Have breakfast at the lodge and transfer to Kampala where you will enjoy lunch in a selected restaurant or in Munyonyo common Wealth Resort where you will be waiting for a 4:00 0’clock Boat Safari to Pineapple Bay Island – One of Uganda’s Best and Exotic relaxing Beaches, you will be able to decline your fatigue got from long upcountry roads.

Wake up in the morning and enjoy your Boat transfer to water front Beach in Entebbe, you will meet our representative again with your safari vehicle, depending on your flight departure, you may move around the city for coffee and souvenir shopping. Later drive to the Airport where you will hand over the Car and proceed for outbound flight back home.
